Center Overview
The Altoona Center for Clinical Research (ACCR) was founded in 1992 by Alan J. Kivitz MD MACR. This is a privately owned, 40,000 square foot state-of-the-art research facility and group practice that includes four Rheumatologists, and six Physician Assistants. ACCR is dedicated to providing quality clinical research with the highest standards of patient safety. Over 1000 studies have been completed at the center for at least 100 different sponsors and CROs. ACCR has met or exceeded promised enrollment goals in the vast majority of these trials.
Patient Demographics
As the largest group Rheumatology practice in central Pennsylvania, the Altoona Center for Clinical Research draws its patients from 16 counties in Pennsylvania, 2 counties in Maryland and 2 counties in West Virginia (approximately 1.6 million population). ACCR has more than 82,000 patients in our electronic database and typically fulfills 75% of the enrolled subjects in most clinical trials from these files.
